SISO Impedance-Based Stability Analysis for System-Level Small-Signal Stability Assessment of Large-Scale Power Electronics-Dominated Power Systems

To address the growing dynamic issues in power electronics-based system, this paper proposed an enhanced impedance-based stability analysis which can not only obtain global view of system dynamics, but also provide a tailor-made stabilization solution by direct use measured black-box models. With method, interactions at selected multiple ports are translated as decoupled single-input single-output (SISO) minor loops frequency domain, be readily assessed SISO Nyquist criterion. Moreover, oscillation mode shapes, i.e., relative magnitude and phase oscillated voltages currents ports, derived mathematically. Furthermore, frequency-domain participation factor is defined to identify most contributive components for oscillations; Through impedance shaping corresponding oscillatory mode, it provides effective enhancement solution. EMTDC/PSCAD time-domain simulation results from 800 MW offshore wind energy with realistic complexity confirm effectiveness method.
